CAE understands the importance and mechanism of Constant Velocity (CV) Drive Axles. The drive axles on your vehicle are driven by the engine to get the vehicle moving with rotational speeds which is the primary reason to ensure you vehicle’s drive axles are in excellent condition. Without an increase in heat and friction, the drive axles transmit power via constant rotation of the CV Joints. The CV Joints are protected by special rubber covers (boots) which help repel dirt, water, snow and other debris from entering the CV Joints and also allow the special high temperature grease lubricate the bearings from escaping.

The most common problem with CV axles is the wear and tear of the CV Boot. Due to age, the CV boot will eventually crack causing the grease to spill out which lubricates the roller bearings. This will cause a clunking or clicking noise when the car is accelerated, turning left and right under vibration from the road. Since the appropriate lubrication is absent, an increase in friction and heat becomes a major problem causing premature failure of the Constant Velocity Drive Axle.
